City Gets 53 Garbage Trucks from PERHIT

Jakarta Provincial Government once again received aid in form of 53 garbage trucks from the Chinese-Indonesian Employers Association (PERHIT). The handover process marked by eight trucks and one motor given to Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama at City Hall, Thursday (5/22).

I’m very grateful because these trucks will help us in transporting the trashes. Moreover, we also get a motor that could ease trash transportation in small alleys

“This is a promise that had been conveyed since last January and can be realized today. I’m very grateful because these trucks will help us in transporting the trashes. Moreover, we also get a motor that could ease trash transportation in small alleys,” stated Basuki.

According to him, Jakarta is supposed to have 700-800 garbage trucks to get trash transportation on time. At this time, Jakarta does not have that much. Moreover, existing garbage trucks owned by Jakarta Cleanliness Department are already old and unworthy to operate.

Basuki Understand the Expulsion Towards Garbage Trucks in Bekasi

Basuki hopes there would be more garbage trucks donated by other parties. Until now, Jakarta Provincial Government has received 73 garbage trucks from various elements.

“We welcome (other parties to donate garbage trucks). Who knows from 53 trucks could multiply to become 530 trucks. Not bad, right? If we had a lot of garbage trucks, there would be no more trash pile left not transported until it is rotten and makes people cannot eat and sleep,” he uttered.

Meanwhile, PERHIT Chairman, Kiki Barki, explained that this aid started when Basuki came to the Chinese New Year celebration event held a while ago. At that time, he complained about trash problems in Jakarta.

“Spontaneously, we wanted to give garbage trucks because trash is one of flood factors in the city,” he told.

Those trucks are ready to be operated by Jakarta Cleanliness Department. They are scheduled to be deployed to sub-districts.
